In 2015, Karen & Casey embarked on a remarkable journey in Vietnam and never looked back. Captivated by the rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality, it’s been an experience like no other.
Living in the Mai Chau Valley since 2019 and exploring multitudes of its countless culture-and-nature-rich pockets has allowed them to develop a thorough connection to the valley, its people, and its businesses. From there, Veiled Valley developed as a social enterprise aimed at promoting sustainable tourism.
At Veiled Valley, we offer travelers an opportunity to experience the beauty of the land that we cherish fondly, an endeavor that helps us strive to create jobs in the community, support local businesses, and contribute to the preservation of Mai Chau’s cultural heritage and natural environment.
Emily and Boris moved to Mai Chau a few years later, and the land has exceeded their expectations in every way. Their many years in Vietnam endowed them with a cultural understanding and love for the country that made them the perfect addition to the Veiled Valley team.

Run by four expatriates from four countries who have all lived in Vietnam for about a decade, we offer fully-inclusive, unique cultural experiences to travelers. Both our pre-packaged and custom tour experiences include all activities, meals, accommodations, and transportation. For activities within the Mai Chau Valley, we can arrange for our guests to visit central villages by bicycle or electric club cart. For activities that require a longer drive, including to and from other destinations in northern Vietnam, we organize private transportation via cars, SUVs, and vans for our guests.

Vietnam is a safe country for tourists, and the Mai Chau Valley is a serene rural area. Nevertheless, as a general rule for travel, it’s important to always be cautious and aware of your surroundings.

As northern Vietnam’s weather varies by season, so would appropriate attire depend on the time of your visit. Thus, we will let you know about typical weather conditions in the various locales on your itinerary during the time of your scheduled travel and will provide a packing and preparation list prior to your trip to Vietnam.

We recommend October through March as the best time to experience northern Vietnam, as those months see the most ideal and stable weather. April through September tend to be hot and humid, but the scenery is just as glorious and majestic. The summer months bring the most rain, meaning that the weather may impact planned activities more frequently.

Travel insurance is not a general requirement for entering Vietnam. While Veiled Valley does purchase a local travel insurance policy for all our guests that could provide coverage for some emergency situations, as a general rule of traveling, we recommend doing your own research and finding a policy that best suits your needs.

Yes, experiencing Vietnam is for people of all ages! If you’re traveling with children, it’s a great opportunity for them to learn and interact with the ethnic cultures that thrive here. Though the level of physical effort may vary based on the activity, Veiled Valley can craft an itinerary suitable to your needs, taking into account your life stage, health, and any other concerns. Such customization is our expertise!

In short, you can cancel 60 days prior to your arrival date for free.
A bit more specifically: We require a 50 percent deposit at least 60 days before your tour experience’s starting date, with the remaining balance due at least 30 days before the starting date. We will refund 100 percent of any payment made, less payment processing fees, when you cancel 60 or more days before your tour experience’s starting date, and 50 percent if you cancel 30 to 59 days before the starting date. No refund is available within 29 days of the starting date. (Booking less than 60 days before the tour experience’s starting date, while possible yet dependent upon availability, would call for an accelerated payment schedule.)
